New 5 flyovers in Anna Salai

The five flyovers that are proposed to be built along Anna Salai may change into elevated roads as the state government feels that too many flyovers could confuse motorists.Hence a new plan of two elevated roads one from Anna Statute to Thousand Lights and the other from Eldams Road junction to Saidapet is proposed.Meanwhile the state highways department has been asked for a model of the five flyovers to get an idea before taking a final decision.A senior highways official said, “We have to do something urgently to ease traffic congestion on Anna Salai before the Metro Rail works begin. We have to decide between the two projects.Professionals feel that building an elevated road is a better solution when compared to five flyovers to ease the traffic on the Anna Salai stretch.
